Hindu Shrine: Pashupatinath in Nepal

By Dirgha Raj Prasai

The Lord Pashupatinath Temple sits on a sacred river on the edge of Bagmati, Kathmandu. The complex rises up from the bank amid a mass of pagoda-style buildings. The temple moves to ancient rhythms. And one of its many traditions has been to recruit its priests from Brahmins from far-away south India. But, for the first time, the south Indians have been replaced by local, Nepali priests. It used to be that the temple authorities would appoint its priests in conjunction with the king- and he was always happy to maintain the link with south India. The fiercely secular communists would have few qualms about dispensing with the services of the south Indian Brahmins.

After the appointment of Nepali priests- many Protesters in Pashupatinath shouted 'Down with Maoists', and 'Scrap this decision'- as the two priests performed religious ceremonies. We want this decision scrapped immediately. The Maoists have appointed their own people. Dozens of riot police and Maoist volunteers escorted the temple’s new Nepalese priests as they visited holy sites around the Pashupati complex, which dates from the third century BC. We Nepalese people are worried that Pashupati complex is being used as a playground for politics. The Bhandaris are the traditional temple caretakers, they also protested against the decision of Maosts. The Bhandaris have been expressing objection to the new appointees.

Maoist cadres & riot police have been deployed at Nepal’s holiest Hindu temple to stop protesters angry at the government’s attempt to remove Indian priests. The temple decision has led to demonstrations by Hindu groups. Nepal’s Supreme Court directed the temple authorities to clarify the controversy and not to let the newly appointed Nepali priests perform the rituals. Traditionally, the temple authorities would appoint its priests in conjunction with the king. The way Maoist government replaced the priests serving at the Pashupatinath Temple without fulfilling any formality has hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu people of Nepal.

So, after the formation of Maoist led-government in Nepal, the Maoist leaders are going to disturb and destroy the democratic norms & religious cultural & traditional values of the country. Now, the Maoists are trying to take over the Pashupatinath temple. The Supreme Court has ordered the trust to allow the three Indian priests to carry on with the rituals till its verdict, the new priests have begun their work in violation of the order. Maoists and cadres of the Young Communist League (YCL) stormed into the temple broke the lock of southern gate of the temple vandalized and thrashed Bhandaris. The daly worship was performed without conducting strict traditional rituals. It is a blatant attack on the centuries-old tradition and it is against the Supreme Court's order.

A prominent Journalist Mr. Yubraj Ghemire has written-' Culture Minister Gopal Rai (Maoist central committee member) has said the Government will not obey the Supreme Court order staying the appointment of a priest believed to have been handpicked by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to head the Pashupatinath temple. The brazen defiance of the court egged Maoist cadres to go a step ahead and assault temple priests preparing to address a press conference to protest the Government’s interference in Pashupatinath affairs. We are not going to stay the decision that the Government has already taken regarding appointment of the new priest of the temple'

In such a dark situation, King Gyanendra said to the Maoist led-government and others to keep the hallowed Hindu shrine of Pashupatinath out of dispute and not to tarnish the image of Nepal as a country where different religions had co-existed in harmony down the ages'. So, The Pashupati temple should not be the place for the Maoists to recruit their cadres
The new rule formulated after the installation of democracy, anybody whether Nepali or a foreign national, who is qualified and well versed with Hindu religion and acquainted with the practices of Pashupatinath temple can be a candidate for the priest. Almost in 1343 AD in the regime of Licchabi, Muslim ruler Samsuddin, who hailed from Bengal (India) attacked Kathmandu and attacked Pashupatinath temple.
Now after 665 years, more than a hundred Maoists and cadres of YCL broke the lock of the Pashupatinath's main shrine and took the newly appointed priest.

If Bhatta had voluntarily resigned new priests could be appointed with the reason thereof citing the prevalent law regarding the worship and management of Pashupatinath. Since legendary period Newar Rajopadhya could also be appointed as Bhatta (priest) . Rajopadhya should be traced from Bangemuda (kathmandu) & Banepa ( Kabre) In 1746 AD Pratap Malla the King of Kathmandu came in touch of Kartatac King and appointed Gyanananda & Lambakarna as priests of Pashupatinath. They were tantrik (having mystic power). Till now, there are four Bhatta priests & 106 Newars as Bhandaris (store keepers & protectors) Bhandaris are chronologically important. Only those born in Devpatan, the Pashupati area are entitled for worshiping lord Pashupatinath. Bhandaris are the owners of their houses.

The area of Pashupatinath imcompasses 264 hectre of land including 518 temples and monuments. We want to protrect and safeguard the heritage. The Rajbhandaris must be reinstated. The decion done by Maoist must be scraped out. Maoist followed the villainous part as played by Samasuddin from Bangal having a force of thirty one thousand Muslims plundering and vandaling the faith and trust of Hindu & Buddhist in Bikram Era 1400. The last Licchivi regime was very weak. There was a great chaos after the Muslims attack. To save the regime from such a dreadful situation Jayasthiti Malla , the Ksha King having cooperation and assistance from kings of Palpa,Kaski,Gorkha and Lamjung, attacked vigorously on Muslim army. Thirty thousand and four hundred soldiers were killed and about six hundred fled away.It is carved and can be seen in Bhatapur Taleju temple. Then, Jayasthiti Malla ascended the throne of Kathmandu and reconstructed the temple and constructed the Rama temple across the Bagmati river and established Kumbheshwar Mahadev and performed Kotihom ( oblation for one Crore over the sacred fire) He laid the strict rule regarding the entrancefor the Hindus & Buddhists only. This is unviolable.

King Jyotirmalla writes in stone lablets- 'about Pashupatinath in 1465 Bs, lord Pashupatinath having five mouth along with worshipable Bashuki the holy serpent. King Pratap Malla was famous in stone tablets. Prithvinarayan shah the great, worshipped lord Pashupatinath duing his integration of Kingdom. It is stated in Lingua Bambshabali. Prithbinarayan Shah had got carved in Basantapur Place in 1826 Bs after his Victory over Kathmandu valley-' lord Pashupatinath & Goddess Guheshwari may bless Nepal for keeping sovereignty and stability along with Shah popular Regime. Royal seals were attached regarding the worship of Lord Pashupatinath by King Ranabahadur Shah, King Mahendra & King Birendra as well. Since 1979 Unesco has kept this core area as a world heritage. It encompasses four hector of land as a very sensitive area. Let this government be away from imposing political interference over Hindus & Buddhists. The decision done in contravention of all the rules & the regulations regarding the Pashupatinath worship be scraped immediately. So, this is the high time to be conscious & united on the part of Hindus, Buddhists as well as all patriotic Nepali.

Traitors and corrupts must perish from Nepal

by: Dirgha Raj Prasai

The consequence of using the state governance for self-interest will not be positive. Ranas have ruled Nepal, similarly Panchas and Nepali Congress that ripped the national treasury. Nepal witnessed many agitations due to corruption and ill-practices. The major problem faced by the nation is corruption and foreign intervention. The rulers have always overlooked this. India wants to create a rift between the Hills and Tarai people to disintegrate the nation. The Indian Congress (I) could not ambush late King Birendra and Gyanendra into their strategy. So it pressed Nepali Congress, UML and Maoist creating various obstacles for three years and made the corrupt leaders sign the 12-point pact in 2005 for a struggle. The agitation was stalled after the reinstatement of the parliament in a staged drama of reaching an agreement with the King. They scrapped the King’s powers and made the Prime Minister who had taken oath from the King as head of state. The national army was put inside the barrack with assistance from the United Nation. Federalism was declared on the basis of secular state, republic and on ethnic lines. Then Madhesi agents were forwarded and a traitor and corrupt vice-president clad in Indian attire took oath in Hindi. They are committed to end the identity of the nation. The prevailing silence from United Nation and America, a democratic nation, over the naked Indian intervention on Nepal, is a matter of grief. India annexed Sikkim on 10 April in 1975 by staging a dramatic statute assembly election by keeping the Sikkim King separate from sovereignty. Similarly, India is committed to capture Nepal after declaring it republic through the 601-member Constituent Assembly. Nepal is in a precarious juncture. Indian from the very beginning wants Nepalese industries to be closed. It desires to fail the state. Girija Prasad Koirala during his premiership sold the Chinese industries in cheaper rates for commissions worth billions. Koirala made partnership with the Indian mafia and staged the Lauda and Dhamija scams which led to the plummeting of Nepali air service RNAC. It shattered the administrative system. There could be no bigger traitor than Girija. There are hundreds of such traitors and criminals within the Madhesi prties, RPP, UML and Nepali Congress like Girija who needs to be severely punished. Many medias have been running under foreign support. The traitors from civic and intellectual society are receiving financial support from Indian, American intelligence agencies and INGOs. These intellectuals are committed to slaughter the identity of Nepal. What could be sad than this? Within a month of the conclusion of the people's uprising on 19 May, 2005, Jug Suraiya of the Times of India (a newspaper run by RAW) had scribed, "India and China must divide and share Nepal as it has now become a failed state". The pro-foreign leaders remained silent against the concerning game of the RAW strategy. It is an insult to Nepali people. We want to tell the Indian leaders that Nepali people are very patient but will not tolerate the foreign offense. We can put our lives on stake against any Indian intervention against our motherland. We had believed that the Maoist uprising would put an end to foreign intervention. In politics judgment is made on the basis of result and cause on basis of viewpoint. But those who cling on to the principleless path can never be secured. The Maoist has no definite ideology, so they would be perished. Traitors like Girija will not remain in power forever. The chaotic scenario will not continue in the nation forever. Yes, the Maoist also wants to save the nation. They must abandon the traitors and corrupt leaders in Congress and UML and seek a secured landing path choosing the nationalist line. The nationalist line means to be alert of the conspiracies being hatched by United Nation, America and Indian imperialism. It means to retain the royal institution, Hindu and Boudha kingdom, continue the national language, take action against corrupt and feudal rulers, and address the backward region and classes. Nationalistic line is to mobilize the natural resources and tools in favor of the nation. The 2005 uprising has derailed into a negative path. The parties were concentrated on abolishing the royal institution under Indian orders. What has the nation gained by abolishing the monarchy? The royal institution is the representing institution of the people of the nation. Corrections can be made in the defects and weaknesses seen in the institution. But Nepal cannot survive by disregarding the institution and depending on the traitors. The Kings of Nepal never worked to sell the nation. May India, America, UN including other foreigners accept this truth! There is no alternative force to nationalist force and national army to save the nation in current pretext. Now national army, security sources and nationalist in and outside the political parties must work together to save Nepal's nationality and democracy.

Why secularism is a blunder in Nepal

by: Dirgha Raj Prasai
In the annals of world civilisation, Hindu philosophy is considered liberal, simple and tolerant. Nepal as a Hindu state did not just signify her Hindu religious leanings. It was also a source of Nepali nationalism and an inescapable fact of Nepal. Hence declaration of Nepal as a secular state has ignored the ground realities. Among all religions, Hindu religion is considered the most liberal. According to renowned philosopher Voltaire, Hinduism is the best gift of the East to the West. Similarly, George Bernard Shaw, Irish litteratteur, said, "Hindu religion is the most important and the most liberal religion in the world". According to the Encyclopedia of Religions and Ethics, signs of Hindu religion are found in Islamic countries like Iran. A stone scripture dating back to 486 BC in Iran contains the words Hindu and Hindus. Even an ancient Parsi scripture, Shatir, repeates the famous Ved Vyas saying "I am a true Hindu born, in a Hindu country". Another Hindu philosopher Manu considers the area between Bindhya in south India and the Himalayas in the north as Aryabrata, the land of Aryans. Even outside travellers to the region like Megasthaniz and Fai Han have written in their memoirs that Hindus are tall, healthy, simple, intelligent and truthful. That Hindus do not need to bring witnesses to financial deals and they do not lock their houses as incidents of theft are simply not heard of. The rise of Buddhism does not make much of a difference because Buddhism and Hinduism are complementary to each other and Kiratis also worship the same gods, such as Shiva and Bhagawati, as do the Hindus. Instead of declaring Nepal a completely secular state, it would have made more sense, in keeping with the ground realities, if it had been declared both Hindu and Buddhist country. There are about 800 million Hindus in India and Indian Hindus respect Nepal as a Hindu country. This should be taken as a matter of pride. For security reasons too, Nepal, a small country with open border to the south, has a big advantage as a Hindu country. It also needs to be borne in mind that no one has the right to trample on the conviction of more than two-thirds of the people. Even when Nepal was a Hindu kingdom, its cosmopolitan nature made it secular. Hindus have never harassed or troubled the followers of other religions. In whose interest is the declaration of a secular country, then? The seven parties must rethink their decision. What they should have done instead is strive to remove anomalies like untouchablility and caste-based and social discriminations. Apart from some social anomalies there is nothing in Hindu religion that should be opposed.Declaring Nepal a secular country only serves the interest of a small section of the populace. Otherwise, Hinduism is the most liberal and tolerant of religions. How can the oldest and most liberal of religions be thrown away just like that? No religion (and certainly not Hinduism) should be made a political issue. But by declaring Nepal a secular state, the government has done just that: tried to put together the unmixables, which could be dangerous to the whole Nepali society. All Nepalis should unite and raise voice to upturn the decision and declare Nepal a Hindu and Buddhist country, as the country's natural characterstics dictate.

Why monarchy is necessary for Nepal

by: Dirgha Raj Prasai
Nepalese monarchy is the most convincing identity of Nepal's independence and its sovereignty. Nepal could remain an independent and sovereign country only because of monarchy. The monarchy was pivotal in integrating Nepal, establishing democratic and just society at par with the modern world . But why are the political parties so averse and negative towards monarchy? It is true that there are many countries which do not have monarchy still they could remain independent and prosperous. But in a diverse country like Nepal, monarchy is the only basis of national unity and Nepal cannot be compared with other countries. Indian conspirators are taking some deviant leaders of the political parties on their shoulders with the sole aim that it will be easy for them to control Nepal if monarchy can be displaced. But such a situation will be a happy one for India also. Some communist parties take monarchy as the root cause of Nepal's all woes. This is not correct. No Nepalese king has ever acted or walked on the path which is against Nepal's national interest. Gorkha was one country 240 years ago. This country is the result of the unification of 54 small countries or fiefdoms under the leadership of the monarchy. When the country is standing on the verge of dismemberment in the last three years when the relationship between the king and the people have been detached one can easily imagine can Nepal remain safe and unified when monarchy is actually abolished from the country? In a country with such geographical and ethnic diversities Nepal will fall into a severely dangerous situation because of the tug of war between the parties in the election for the president. This can be avoided if there is monarchy because monarchy is always impartial politically and of the political parties. All of us are against if there are anomalies within the royal institution, but those things could be sorted out through negotiation with the monarch. Many countries where monarchy was displaced have now ceased to exist and several other have fallen into anarchy and civil war. Therefore, it will be totally inappropriate without knowing fully the ground realities. It was not for whether to keep monarchy or not. The constituent assembly is just a representative organization to formulate a new constitution and it does not have any right to displace monarchy. Can the future of the country be decided just because s0 called big political parties ganged up together? Those powerful nations, who in the past shed blood in Vietnam, North and South Korea, East and West Germany, Cambodia, Afghanistan and Yugoslavia, are now trying to drag Nepal into a civil war. So, if the political leaders, including the Maoists, tried to trample on this truth, one should know that the existence of Nepal will be finished. Nepal is the origin of Hindu & Budhist. This is the land where their civilization began. As Nepal is the only Hindu country in the world with a Hindu king, Hindus all over the world have a great respect and faith for this country. Nepalese around the world and Nepal's well-wishers are anxious about this conspiracy against monarchy by some deviant leaders. On the discussion about republic in Nepal, senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party Lalkrishna Advani had said: 'The framework for constitutional monarchy in Nepal should be consolidated because monarchy is the symbol of Nepal's identity and sovereignty. Nepal should have an active and dynamic multi-party democracy'. But we in Nepal are trying to dig up a well when there already is water in our rivers. Nepal will not become a heaven on earth just because monarchy is actually abolished and republican system ushered in. When Nepal has already received so much respect and identity for being a Hindu kingdom, why are Nepalese trying to finish off its identity? What is more treason than this? The conflict between the political parties and the king came up because of the mistakes and blunders of Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML and the authoritarian thinking of the Maoist. Nepalese will win only if all the political parties, including the Maoists, realize this fact and give a respected position to Nepal's royal institution. Some people lacking information about Nepal's geo-political stand point along with the cultural history as the king remained symbol of unity in diversity take as an obsolete and ancient institution, but not all countries with monarchy are deprived and destitute. In the context of Nepal, the political parties can always get along with monarchy. Even in simple terms, in republican countries with parliamentary system, a person biased towards a party becomes the president. Already presidential election is expensive there is added fear that the fighting between the communist and the parliamentary parties could break up the country. History is evidence that the parliamentary parties, mainly the Nepali Congress and the UML, who came to power after 1990 completely failed to steer the country and they handed over power to the King in 2001. Later when they failed to get position and power they climbed on the shoulder of the Maoists to launch an anarchic struggle. The King has no role in bringing this sorry state of this country. So, Nepalese people shall not remain quiet if these political parties try to destroy the identity of this country, their tradition and the basic foundation of this state. Therefore, this uncertain and precarious situation can only be averted if a balance can be maintained among nationality, monarchy and parliamentary democracy. Nepal's independence, sovereignty and democracy can never be safeguarded by abolishing monarchy. If Nepal's monarchy will be abolished for-ever, the power balance of this region will be disrupted. Nepal's monarchy is the guarantor for peace and stability of this region. We Nepalese people no longer want the unconstitutional rule of the so called visionless larger party leaders including Maoists. The Nepalese only believe in parliamentary democracy and always follow the constitutional path. Now, the only way would be the acceptance and restoration of benevolent and people-oriented monarchy. There is, thus, no way other than to form a national government of all sides, including the king, through a broad conference and find a way out to solve the country's problem.

Nepalese Natural & Cultural Nationalism

by: DIRGHA RAJ PRASAI
We citizens of Nepal should be cautious for building and saving the country as every one loves their respective nation. Changes are natural everywhere but these changes should be materialized to meet the aspirations of the people. If the changes took the negative side the nation will be disintegrated. Nepal is regarded as a mini-world. Physically, the structure of Nepal shows Himalayas having the highest peak in the world, Hills, and low-lands i.e. Terai. Various types of castes & creeds settle there. The soil also differs from east to west. Having different climate we can produce different edible crops. Whatever crops are available in the nook & corner of the globe we can produce in this soil. This country is blessed by the nature by providing various rivers, streams and fountains. Nepal has ample sources of water, as a white gold. Nepal can be a great store of food-grains if well irrigated and high potential of hydroelectric energy. As Arabian countries are god gifted with sufficient Petroleum products, Nepal has sufficient water for hydroelectricity, which can be used for foreign money generation. Having dense forest, rare animals and more than 800 types of birds plus herbaria makes it naturally friendly in many ways. Many of the tourists and the foreigners claim- 'Nepal is the most beautiful place in the world.' Though Nepal is a small country it is rich in various types of castes. The national aspirations can't be met by belittling any of the castes and sub-castes. Nepal is fortunate enough to have one cultural nationalism. This culture is made with the components of Hindu, Vedic and Buddhism. Tolerance, civilization makes our sublime culture. The flagrance and aroma pleases the whole world. The communicative language has been one and common Nepali in hundreds of languages and dialects written and spoken. Nepal has been very liberal even when it was a Hindu Kingdom. If we compare with other secular states Nepal excelled the Christian and Islamic nations. Nepal should be reinstated as Hindu & Buddhist kingdom. The nationality of Nepal is not only a recognition of the sense. It is also a creative mentality. Only the boundary of the land can't represent Nation. Our nationality is so sensitive that the established values & norms will be shattered if we raised any dissension or conflicts. Therefore, we should always be tolerant and sensitive while expressing any new-opinion. Nepal was integrated into one nation with the infallible trial and untiring efforts made by Prithvi Narayan Shah. We are sandwiched between India & China. So, we are bound to have a balanced understanding between them. The nation builder had preached us the same fact. Establish good and amicable relation with China, have relation with the emperor of south understanding well that he is very clever. This gospel should be kept into the mind while implementing foreign policy. Nepal is a land-locked country. Nepal has to sustain its existence by keeping it free from the pressure of these two nations. Now, some leaders from India are showing antagonistic nature toward Nepal. We, Nepalese have to face the challenges bravely. We assume that we are tied with the cultural & religious bondage with India and we have cordial relation but we have to face the risk of saving our national integrity and sovereignty. Such an inclination of India may be harmful to India also. So, she should get rid of her own hegemonies role. Some Nepalese playing a villainous role to incorporate Indian design. Nepalese should be conscious against such conspiracies. The nationalism is to have motion along with its integrity means of resources, natural resources and the heritages. Friends can collaborate but can't sustain our nationality. Nepal is the richest nation in natural resources and cultural heritages. Nepal is regarded as lover of peace. Nepal has never been under-colonial rule. Kailas-Manasarovar in Tibet is the most pious holy place for Hindu & Buddha from Nepal. China has respected the historical fact left from Bhrikuti and Arniko along with derivation of Budhism from Nepal. India also has respected the independence of Nepal. The people of India share the common culture and the religion respecting each other. Our foremost duty is to safeguard our born freedom, independence and honor. I recall the address given by late King Mahendra on 2nd Feb1965 in Nagpur India. He said in the Hindu's huge meeting-' Himalaya has been regarded as an abode of God. Nepal has been always a source of inspirations. Nepal has been a shelter for Indians in time of chaos. Hindus from India have coveted desire to complement Lord Pashupati Nath and have a glance of Machhaindra Nath. Hindus all over the world cherish that Nepal remain always Hindu Kingdom' These days larger parties like Nepali congress & UML along with Madhesh based parties and Maoist are failing to understand the importance of natural & cultural nationalism. This has triggered trouble for Nepal. Leaders in Nepal are not sensitive toward nationalism. The leaders of the larger parties played the antagonistic role against monarchy, irrationally. With the effect of such practice our boundary and natural resources therein have been entangled in conflict. The Nation can't survive in the hands of foreign tools. Nepal cannot survive unless and until monarchy is reinstated. Monarchy is the lasting institution to fight against foreign interference. In the context of Nepal federalism and secularism are the components to risk the nation. It is high time to think to save the nation from steep precipice to fall it down. We, patriot-Nepalese whether we belong to any party, creed or castes we should be devoted to the national interest. So,we may be living into Nepal or abroad, we should be conscious to save the Nepalese natural & cultural nationalism.

HOW TO RESCUE NEPAL

BY DIRGHA RAJ PRASAI

The condition of Nepal has been very critical because of the deeds of the political players their role in the so-called Jana-andolan. The foremost cause of the deteoreorative situation of the country is the annulment of the constitution of 1990 without any amendment. The irresponsible party leaders ended the constitution of 1990. The so-called Interim constitution is simply parties' agenda not a constitution. The 601 members of constituent assembly can't build any constitution because they all are only the puppets in the hands of foreign tutored and the dictated leaders. There is no history of making any constitution whatsoever by the puppets having no primary knowledge of the contents of the constiturion. The peaceful country where Lord Buddha was born has become the venue of confrontations. Those, who are in power, are exploiting the country. India including other foreign elements is active to destroy the country's peace and prosperity. Envoys from powerful countries are present here. Their aim is to destroy the Nepalese identity and originality. Not only the immature party leaders but the foreign elements too are responsible for this present plight. Nepalese leaders can't maintain diplomacy because they themselves are puppets controlled by diplomats. If the late King Mahendra had not taken the bold decision in 1961, the country would not have existed till now. It already would have become a Sikkim or Bhutan. King Mahendra's step supported the nationalism and stopped corruption. Now, the critics of King Mahendra are convinced seeing the character of the Party leaders and the naked intervention of the foreigners. Nepalese people fought for the better system but sadly opposite to the people's expectations, the leaders appeared as dacoits and looter. The double-agent Girija Prasad Koirala, who triggered Maoist revel to hold back Communism. But, after the assignments of 12 points in India in 2005, Girija and Maoist became political friends under the pressure of India. S.D Muni ( Professor of J.N.U and the Policy maker of south block ) in his article 'Dealing with a new Nepal' The hindu Daily on 15th sep. 2008 has conceded that India had provided one billion rupees for running the agitation.' With that resources along with the guide-lines of south-block they could forge the Jana-Anandolan. This was the mysterious design for our country. It is likely to recur. The multiparty & republic is not the current issue in Nepal, the main problem is only how to save the country from corruptions & Indian intervention. In Nepal, nowadays, we have daylight robbery, killing and insecurity of the public life even having holding state power in the hands of those who led the agitation.
Now, the Maoist is in power. The political success will be measured on how it can move according to the national and international aspiration. For this, we request the Maoists to be committed to protect our sovereignty as well as the natural and cultural assets. The open border is the main cause for the disturbances and insecurity. So, there must be bilateral agreement between Nepal & India. Nepal and India are close geographically and culturally. Nepal has been facing threat from India from the very beginning. Nepal has not faced any threat from China since communism was established there. China is in favor of monarchy in Nepal. China knows that Nepal's sovereignty is linked with monarchy. Therefore, the Maoists should also accept this reality. The attempt to establish a republican state in Nepal is a Herculean task. The Maoists should prepare plans to mobilize Nepalese manpower in the utilization of natural resources– land, water resources and forest; and to maintain the country's cultural vibrancy it should declare religious freedom and announce the continuation of Hindu and Buddhist kingdom by which Nepal is identified around the world. Indeed, the movement of Maoist was not for the republic in the beginning, the revolt was against the corruption, foreign intervention and the exploitation. It might be mentioned here that republic & secularism in Nepal are the interests of the foreigners to destroy the whole identity of Nepal. There should be a strong law to punish the corrupt and must nationalize their assets, properties and incomes, which would help in stopping corruption. In the context of Nepal, the authorized guardian of the country is the King. We view that effort made both by the King and the people will only enhance the nation & democracy. But the leaders did not like to understand the reality and they declared republic in the pressure of foreigners. Now, the republic became the main problem of the country's stability. To safeguard the nationality & democracy, the King ought to be re-established, and the parliament should be strong. Equally, the political leaders must be patriot & be true to what they say. Nepal has become the playground of foreigners (especially Indians) the problem will only be resolved when the King and the people's leaders will be together in regime.
